An Exploration of Ethnomathematics in the Pancaniti Pekojan and Singandaru Batik Motifs of Banten from the Perspective of Geometric Transformation Concepts Geometry

This study aims to explore ethnomathematics concepts in the Pancaniti Pekojan and Singandaru batik motifs typical of Banten Province, Indonesia, viewed from the perspective of geometric transformation. Using a qualitative approach and an ethnomathematical method, data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews at Museum Banten Mukarnas in Serang. The findings reveal that both batik motifs contain various mathematical concepts, particularly geometric transformations including translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation. The Pancaniti motif exhibits repetitive floral patterns demonstrating translation and reflection symmetry, while the Singandaru motif displays a centrally symmetric mandala form indicating rotational symmetry. These findings suggest that Banten traditional batik can serve as a contextual learning medium for mathematics education, particularly in teaching geometric transformation concepts in schools
