Pengaruh Kecerdasan Emosional terhadap Kemampuan Kognitif IPA Siswa Kelas VII SMP Alam Mekar

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to understand and analyze the influence of emotional intelligence on the cognitive abilities of seventh-grade students at Alam Mekar Middle School. The research method used was correlational with a quantitative descriptive approach. The study focused on seventh-grade students. The main variables included student engagement in emotional intelligence and the development of critical thinking skills in the context of science learning. The results showed a significant influence between emotional intelligence and students' cognitive abilities in science, as indicated by a calculated r value > r table, or 6.032272 > 1.671. This indicates that the higher a student's emotional intelligence, the better their cognitive abilities in understanding and mastering science material. The coefficient of determination of 39% indicates that emotional intelligence makes a significant contribution to influencing students' cognitive abilities, while the remaining influence is attributed to other factors.
