Peningkatan Kompetensi Mahasiswa PPG Melalui Diskusi Berbasis Studi Kasus dalam Merancang Strategi Pembelajaran yang Sesuai dengan Karakteristik Peserta Didik dan Lingkungan Belajar
Abstract
This study aims to enhance the competencies of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) students in designing instructional strategies tailored to the characteristics of learners while considering the role of the learning environment. The method employed is case-based discussion, which allows students to analyze real-life situations and develop solutions aligned with learning needs. This research utilizes a classroom action research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, encompassing planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and document analysis, and were analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative approaches.The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' ability to understand learner characteristics, with the average score increasing from 70.5 in the first cycle to 85.8 in the second cycle. Additionally, their ability to design appropriate instructional strategies improved, achieving a success rate of 90% in the second cycle. Active student engagement in the case-based discussion process also increased from 65% in the first cycle to 88% in the second cycle. Students successfully identified learners' needs, utilized the potential of the learning environment, and developed more effective instructional strategies. Thus, case-based discussion is recommended as an effective approach to enhancing the quality of learning in the course on Understanding Learners and Their Learning.
