Menelaah Kelayakan Buku Ajar Pendidikan Pancasila Kelas 3 SD dalam Perspektif Era Digital dan Kurikulum Merdeka

Abstract


Textbooks play an essential role in supporting the learning process and shaping students’ character, particularly in the subject of Pancasila Education at the elementary school level. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the ESPS Pancasila Education for Grade 3 textbook published by Erlangga based on its content, presentation, language, and graphic components, as well as its relevance to digital-era learning needs and the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using document study and content analysis techniques. Data were obtained from the textbook’s content, including materials, illustrations, student activities, summaries, and evaluations, along with supporting literature and the BSNP textbook feasibility standards. The findings indicate that the ESPS textbook covers all five principles of Pancasila and essential character values aligned with the 2013 Curriculum. However, the material presented remains limited to traditional behavioral examples and has not sufficiently connected Pancasila values to students’ digital life contexts. In terms of presentation, the structure is systematic, yet the learning activities remain predominantly teacher-centered and lack collaborative or project-based learning components. In terms of language, the textbook uses simple and accessible sentences, although some instructions are insufficiently detailed and several abstract terms are not supported with concrete examples. Regarding graphics, the illustrations are visually appealing but lack inclusivity, modernity, and multimodal elements such as infographics or QR codes. Overall, the ESPS Pancasila Education for Grade 3 textbook is feasible for use as a learning resource, yet it requires several improvements to enhance its relevance to 21st-century learning demands and to better support the development of the Pancasila Student Profile in the Merdeka Curriculum. Enhancements are especially needed in digital relevance, variety of learning activities, clarity of instructions, and modernization of graphics
