Analysis Of The Linkages Between The Storyline And The Illustration Of The Indonesias Local Story Fairytale Joko Kendil And Its Effects Towards Childrens Reading Interest
Abstract
"Joko Kendil " is a local fictional story of a child with disabilities that ultimately reach success in his life. The story can be identified as a parable fairytale ( a fairy tale that contains the values of education) for children, particularly children with disabilities. But the story is not popular for children reading a book, because the illustrations don't support it. Researchers will analyze the interrelations between the storyline and the illustrations in the story of "Joko Kendil" using the illustration theory approach, with a descriptive qualitative methodology. The results are; the character illustration in the storyline is not powerful enough to create a positive image. This causes the children to lost interest to read them fairy tales.
