Folklore in Indigenous People in Kampung Pulo in Order to Maintain The Sustainability of Their Community
Abstract
Abstract. This research is about folklore and social order found in indigenous peoples in order to maintain the survival of their communities. This research aims to find out folklore which is passed down from generation to generation which forms the social order of indigenous peoples. This research was conducted in the indigenous community of Kampung Pulo in Cangkuang village, Cijakar, Leles sub-district, Garut district. This research method is descriptive qualitative, which is a method that narratively describes an object of research as it was at the time of this research. Respondents are taken by purposive and snowball sampling, which is a data collection technique where the source of data is chosen with the consideration that most people know the desired information. The number of samples is not based on nominal numbers, at first a little and then more and more, adjusted to the information that has been obtained. Data analysis was carried out through 3 stages, namely data reduction, presenting narrative data, and making conclusions. Based on field visits conducted, the social order formed, traditions, customs that have been carried out and preserved to date are formed based on oral stories they received from ancestors from generation to generation. The folklore that people receive in the form of rules, prohibitions, and orders that if they are not obeyed they believe will bring harm and disaster to their people.
