The Effect of Emotional Intelligence and Critical Thinking of Students On Concept Control Civic Education

Abstract

Abstract—The background of this study is the still low mastery of the concept of civic education for students, its relation to emotional intelligence and critical thinking of students. The purpose of the study is to analyze and test hypotheses regarding the theme of this research. The research method used is survey research with a sample of 85 students, randomly selected from 500 students. Data analysis using path analysis with linear regression approach. The results of the study show (1) there is no significant direct effect of emotional intelligence on mastery of the concept of student Civic Education. This is evidenced by the value of t arithmetic = 0.599 <t table = 1.989. (2) There is a significant direct effect of critical thinking on the mastery of the concept of student Civic Education. This is evidenced by the value of t count = 2,002> t table = 1,989. (3) There is a significant direct effect of emotional intelligence on students' critical thinking. This is evidenced by the value of t count = 5.797> t table = 1.988.
