The management of allowance among students on diverse backgrounds
Abstract
Abstract—The allowance management research is noticed by the academics recently. However, one of the allowance management researches is needed to be revised and developed. Due that matter, it is necessary for further research to improve and develop the weakness in previous research. The aim of this research is to study more about the differences in the management of student allowance from the standpoint of gender and father's and mother’s latest education level. The method in this research is quantitative, with comparative research type. The study was conducted at Indraprasta PGRI University Jakarta involving 284 students. Data collection technique using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability testing to collect data on pocket money management (managing income, managing expenses, and managing reserve funds) on an ordinal scale, gender (male and female) on a nominal scale, and the last level of parents’ education (father and mother) using the ordinal scale. The result showed that there was only difference in pocket money management based on the last level of father education. There was no difference in pocket money management from gender and the last level of mother education. In addition, there is no interaction between gender, parents’ education, and pocket money management.
