The Character and Educational Value in “Eloy” by AE

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to analyze the character and educational value in the novel of “Eloy” by AE. This research is designed as qualitative research. The writer uses content analysis method and the data are collected by analyzing the dialogues and narration. The results of the research are based on the theory; 1) The kinds of character according to DiYanni in “Eloy” is 51% for Major Character, 37% for Minor Character, 7% for Dynamic Character, and 5% for Static Character. The highest number is major character because the character has strong role in the novel.  2) The kinds of educational value according to Rusyana in “Eloy” is 33% for Moral Value, 31% for Religious Value, 21% for Social Value, and 15% for Cultural Value. Moral value gets the highest number because the characters in the novel convey moral messages to the readers not only the major character, but also the static character.
