Abstract

Speaking skills are considered a foreign language, especially English, as an essential skill in learning. However, most students still face difficulties as long as they learn this skill. This action research effort is related to improving speaking skills through Suggestopedia and cooperative learning. This study aims to improve the ability to speak English through the suggestopedia method and cooperative learning where the subjects of this study were tenth-grade students of PGRI 1 High School Bekasi. This class action research has three sessions. This study uses research instruments in the form of questionnaires and interviews. After applying Suggestopedia, the average score of cycles I, II, and III is higher than the average Initial Reflection (IR) score, which improves speaking skills through Suggestopedia. This further research shows that students provide positive responses to the application of Suggestopedia in learning to speak. In short, this class action research proves that the speaking skills of class X SMA PGRI 1 Bekasi can be improved through Suggestopedia and Cooperative learning.
