CHARACTER AND MORAL VALUE in LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL FILM By ROBERTO BENIGNI and VICENZO CERAMI
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is; 1) to analyze the characters in the film "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni and Vicenzo Cerami 2) to analyze moral values in the film "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni and Vicenzo Cerami. This research was designed as a qualitative research. Data is collected by analyzing dialogue in the film. The results showed that there are two types of characters in the film "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni and Vicenzo Cerami, the protagonist and antagonist. The protagonist is the most dominant character in the film, followed by the antagonist. In addition, there are three types of moral values in the film "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni and Vicenzo Cerami, those are: the power of true love for the family explored in this masterpiece, the spirit to continue to struggle to live through the torment in the concentration camp brings contemplation of the meaning of life, steadfastness and enthusiasm as well as imagination and perseverance that enable a father to protect the lives of his children and wife.
