Friendship in Hikayat Kalilah Dan Dimna

Abstract

Abstract—In the past, literature was used as a medium to convey various teachings about life. In the treasury of Classical Malay literature, the teachings on politics and worldly life are recorded in a story entitled Hikayat Kalilah and Dimna. Hikayat Kalilah and Dimna are known as framed stories and are written as fables (animal stories). This paper discusses the concept of friendship contained in Hikayat Kalilah and Dimna. The study was carried out by analyzing the text and relating it to Platon's thoughts on the ethics of life and the concept of friendship.
