Increasing Higher Order Thinking Skills of High School Students using a Problem-Solving Module

Abstract

Abstract: 2013 competency-based learning curriculum, which there are 5M (mengamati, menanya, menalar, mencoba, dan mengomunikasikan) has become the focus of current development. It is based on learning objectives to develop the basic potential of students into the ability to think reflective for solving problems in social life. The approach that is now widely applied is Problem Based Learning (PBL). It can be applied on Physics, as one branch of science in which needed the reasoning and evaluating conception processes, the most develop studied is global warming. To introduce the concept, it also requires a media as a learning facilitation which help students construct their prior knowledge before they study in class. Through our research, we develop a problem-solving based learning media module that is able to provide opportunities for students to process and accelerate their abilities in mastering learning individually. The the research conducted through a survey of 100 participants turned out to show the results 89% of students who study with problem-solving module are motivated. The implication for students who needs to individual learning should try this method through this problem-solving module
