The Influence of Reading Habits and Vocabulary Mastery on Reading Comprehension of Descriptive Text

Abstract


This research aims to find out: (1). The influence of reading habits and vocabulary mastery of the reading comprehension of descriptive texts of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency. (2). The influence of reading habits on the reading comprehension of descriptive texts of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency (3). The influence of vocabulary mastery on reading comprehension of descriptive text of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency. The research approach used is descriptive quantitative with correlational methods. The instruments used were questionnaires and multiple-choice tests. This research was conducted on class X Public High School students in Bekasi Regency. The research results show: (1) There is a significant and very strong influence between the influence of reading habits and vocabulary mastery together on the reading comprehension of descriptive texts of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency, as evidenced by Sig. = 0.001 < 0.05 and t-count = 3.654> t-table = 1.662 (2). There is an influence of reading habits on the reading comprehension of descriptive texts of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency, as evidenced by Sig. = 0.001 < 0.05 and t-count = 3.474 > t-table = 1.662. (3). There is an influence of vocabulary mastery on the reading comprehension of descriptive text of Public High School students in Bekasi Regency, as evidenced by the Sig. = 0.002< 0.05 and t-count = 3.304 > t-table = 1.662
