Representasi Perempuan Inggris Pada Abad Ke-18 Dalam Film Enola Holmes Karya Harry Bradbeer Serta Implementasinya Dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris
Abstract
The film Enola Holmes by Harry Bradbeer portrays women's resistance to patriarchal norms in 18th-century England. Using a qualitative descriptive method and structural approach, this study examines 44 sequences representing women of that era. These scenes are analyzed using feminist, patriarchal, and intersectionality theories from Sylvia Walby, Judith Butler, and Kimberlé Crenshaw. The main character, Enola, is depicted as a symbol of resistance to patriarchy through her intelligence, independence, and bravery. The film also reflects emerging social changes in the 18th century, where women's roles in society began shifting toward a more egalitarian direction. The findings reveal that Enola Holmes not only provides entertainment but also conveys a message about the significance of women's roles in driving social change. This research contributes to gender studies and the representation of women in media.
