The Character and Educational Value In “Freedom Writers” By Richard Lagravenese

Abstract


This study aims to determine the Character and Educational Values in the film "Freedom Writers" by Richard Lagravenese. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative which aims to describe the character and educational values in the film freedom writers. data is obtained, analyzed and explained based on the dialogue data contained in the film, namely 1). Protagonist, antagonist and foil characters. The Protagonist character gets the largest percentage of 45%. Meanwhile, the Antagonist and Foil get the same percentage of 28%. The protagonist character dominates the film explaining that the Protagonist is the main character in this film. 2). Then the Educational Values of Honesty and Love-Affection get the same percentage of 17%. Then other Educational values are courage, self-confidence, loyalty, respect, not selfish, kind and friendly, fair and humanist get the same percentage of 8.33%. Proving how great his responsibility is as a teacher, which makes him put aside his own ego and prioritize the progress and success of his students.
