THE PRINCIPLES OF MAXIMS AND IMPLICATURES IN THE MOVIE OF TAARE ZAMEEN PAAR

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine 1) the principles of maxims and implicatures in the movie of Taare Zameen Paar, 2)violation of the principles of the maxim that cause implicatures in the movie Taare Zameen Paar. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study found 49 maxims and 36 implicatures. From the 57 data found respectively 9 data maxim of quality, 9 data were maxim of quantity , and 9 data were maxim of manner , 22 while the data were the maxim of relation. While 36 Data implicature, conversational implicature Data found 28, where 2 data were conventional implicature and 6 data were scalar implicatures, it can be interpreted to mean that in giving an update needs to meet the principles of the maxim that the subject is clear and does not cause a pause to guess the meaning is really expected
