Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine whether perceptions of learning media and vocabulary have a positive and significant influence on the ability to listen to English texts, especially for Junior High School students in West Jakarta. If there are positive and significant effects, it is possible to observe the severity of those effects. This research uses a survey with correlation and regression analysis to relate data showing the influence of students' perceptions of learning media and vocabulary on their ability to listen to English. Researchers collected data about learning discipline variables through questionnaires they created themselves; data about vocabulary mastery and English reading ability was obtained through written tests that they took directly. The results of the analysis show that the influence of perceptions of learning media and vocabulary on English listening ability is shown by a correlation coefficient of 0,941 and a coefficient of determination of 88%. The regression line equation, Y = 11,656 + 0,541 X1 + 0,098 X2, shows that both coefficients are significant. The test analysis results show that both coefficients are significant. This
shows that your perception of learning media and vocabulary has an impact on your ability to listen in English.
