THE IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMON ASEAN TOURISM CURRICULUM IN TEACHING AND LEARNING SPEAKING SKILL
Abstract
The objective of this research is to know and describe the Implementation of Common ASEAN Tourism Curriculum in teaching and learning speaking skill to the eleventh grade students, first semester, academic year 2019/2020 at the Metland Vocational School in Bogor Regency. In conducting this research, a qualitative descriptive method was employed. The research was conducted from October to December 2019. Data were collected through non-participant observation, interview, document, including syllabus, lesson Plan, and test evaluation. Based on the interview, students felt happy, unpressured, relax, and active to speak English through this process. The result of this study show that the implementation of common ASEAN tourism curriculum in teaching speaking skill is that the teacher provides real life situation. In addition, the student practice real life situation in the form of simulation and role play. Moreover, in assessing the student speaking achievement the teacher observe the student using rubrics. This implies that real life situation in the form of simulation and role play become the main technique in teaching speaking skill employing CATC.
