THE EFFECT OF VOCABULARY AND GRAMMAR MASTERY ON ENGLISH NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILLS (SURVEY AT PRIVATE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN WEST JAKARTA)

Abstract


This study aimed to investigate the effect of vocabulary and
grammar mastery on the English narrative text writing skills of private
vocational school students in West Jakarta. The research used a survey method
and correlational analysis, with a sample of 100 students from 1080 class X
students. The results showed a significant effect of vocabulary and grammar
mastery on the English narrative text writing skills of students. Vocabulary
mastery had a significant effect on the English narrative text writing skills,
with a Sig value of 0.000 < 0.05 and Fcount = 30,004. Grammar mastery also
had a significant effect on the English narrative text writing skills, with a Sig
value of 0.037 < 0.05 and tcount = 2,110. These findings highlight the
importance of vocabulary and grammar mastery in enhancing the English
narrative text writing skills of private vocational school students in West
Jakarta.
