Herdyanto Siringoringo, Supeno Supeno, Elyza Martiarini

Abstract

This study examines how students' writing abilities in recount texts are affected by the usage of past tense verbs and adjectives. The study concentrates on grammatical correctness and content organization, especially the usage of simple past tense verbs and adjectives. Diagnostic and cycle exams were used in the study to evaluate students' writing abilities. The TAD Strategy considerably enhanced students' writing skills, as seen by the results, which showed mean scores rising from 61.04 in the diagnostic test to 78.95 in the second cycle. According to the results, using structured techniques like TAD improves writing coherence and grammatical precision, which in turn improves academic performance. This study provides insights for future research on writing interventions and emphasizes the necessity of focused instructional approaches while teaching recount texts.
