The Effect of Vocabulary and Grammar Mastery on Students’ Writing Skills in Narrative Texts

Abstract


This research aims to determine the effect of vocabulary and grammar mastery on students’ writing skills in narrative texts. It employed a quantitative method with a survey approach, used random sampling. Data were collected through the test. The results of this research indicated that vocabulary and grammar mastery simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ writing skills in narrative texts. This is evidenced by the Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 and F-value 70.826. Vocabulary mastery has a significant effect on students’ writing skills in narrative texts. This is evidenced by the Sig 0.016 <0.05 and t-value 2.489. Grammar mastery also has a significant effect on students’ writing skills in narrative texts. This is evidenced by the Sig 0.000 < 0.05 and t-value 5.372.
